H4 Splitter vs. 3-to-2-Pin Adapter: Which Do You Need?
For compatible four-headlight Dapper Lighting LED setups, choose an H4 splitter to run all four lamps on low and high beam. Choose a 3-to-2-pin adapter to fit a factory two-pin socket while keeping the connected lamp high-beam-only.

Some GM two-pin high-beam sockets have solid plastic where the third H4 pin needs to go. Dapper Lighting headlamps have low and high beam built in, so they use three-pin plugs. The adapter makes that physical connection; it does not add a low-beam connection.
How Each Setup Connects
One side of the vehicle is shown. Repeat on the other side.
3-to-2-Pin Adapter
Factory two-pin socket → Adapter → Inner headlamp
The outer headlamp keeps its original three-pin connection.
H4 Splitter
Factory three-pin socket → Splitter → Outer and inner headlamps
Secure and protect the unused factory two-pin socket. The 3-to-2-pin adapter is not needed with this setup.
Common Questions
Will an H4 Splitter Overload My Wiring?
For compatible Dapper Lighting LED lamps drawing less than 2 amps each, two lamps draw less than 4 amps combined. That is below a 10-amp circuit rating in this example.
Check the vehicle’s actual circuit rating and all loads on that circuit. If all four lamps share one feed, their combined draw is less than 8 amps at that per-lamp rating. This example does not apply to V1/V2, halogen, or HID setups.
Do I Need a Relay Harness?
An added relay harness is not needed for this compatible Dapper Lighting LED setup when the factory wiring and sockets are in good condition. Repair damaged wiring or poor connections before installation, and keep the factory fuse rating.
Is the H4 Splitter Plug-and-Play?
Yes, with a matching factory three-pin H4 connection and compatible Dapper Lighting LED headlamps. The splitter plugs in without cutting or splicing. For modified wiring or a different pin arrangement, contact Dapper Lighting to confirm compatibility.
